We offer a heart-warming tea ceremony experience at Kenrokutei in Kenroku-en, one of Kanazawa’s most popular spot. Kenrokutei is a historic place where the lord once entertained important guests. In this wonderful setting, you can experience Kanazawa’s tea ceremony culture and Japanese traditions. The tea experience includes a demonstration of the tea procedure by the master, followed by an opportunity to make the tea yourself. There will also be an explanation of the basics of the tea ceremony and how to use tea utensils, so even those who are new to the tea ceremony can participate without worry. We hope that this experience will give you a deeper appreciation of the charm of the tea ceremony.

In front of fountain in Kenrokuen Meet at the Kenrokuen Fountain.
This is right in front of Kenrokutei. Kenrokutei staff will meet you here. Please enter Kenroku-en on your own.
*The nearest entrance is Katsurazaka-guchi or Hasuike-guchi.
*Please pay the entrance fee and enter the garden.

Guided tour to Kenrokutei
Staff will escort you to the Kenroku Pavilion 'Lotus Pond Pavilion'. Please wait and watch the fountain.

Explanation of the tea ceremony
Explanations of the tea ceremony will be given in English.

Includes an explanation of 'a cup of tea' to be made.
The tea is served by the proprietor. The set includes beautiful Kanazawa tea cakes.

You will make your own tea. You will be given detailed instructions on how to use the tea whisk.

After the event breaks up, visitors can enjoy a walk in Kenrokuen Garden.
